September

Our local Spring Mountains in Nevada, dominated by Charleston Peak, are in autumn colors by now. A short California Fourteeners Trip included Mount Whitney and White Mountain Peak.

  4. Mount Olympus (Óros Ólimbos)- the highest mountain in Greece and the residence of the twelve most important ruling gods and goddesses of ancient Greece. 8/15-16
  5. Aegina, Poros and Hydra, Saronic Islands, Greece, Europe- 8/24
  6. Ancient Corinth, Greece, Europe- 8/25
  7. Stonehenge- world famous prehistoric site near Salisbury, England, UK, Europe- 8/27
  8. Snowdon- the highest peak of Wales and Wales and England, UK, Europe- 8/28
  9. Ben Nevis- the highest peak of Scotland, UK, Europe- 8/30
  10. Hadrian's Wall- a fortification built across the width of Great Britain in AD 122 following a visit by Roman emperor Hadrian. 8/31

April was our favorite month for hikes in Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area. Moapa Peak, a prominent mountain located about 50 miles north of Las Vegas was also a great adventure.

March was a stormy month with temperatures below normal for this time of the year. It was a great time to explore desert peaks around Nevada, Arizona and California.

February

The weather continued to be warm and above normal. There was very little snow in the high mountains. We were looking at adventures in Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the Sheep Range.

January

The weather was mild; but the snow had finally arrived to our local mountains. We were looking forward to snowshoeing and winter ascents of Mt. Charleston peaks. This was also a good time to explore many of the other mountain ranges and deserts around Las Vegas.
