The Stonehenge complex was built in several construction phases over the period of 2000 years. According to archeologists, the standing stones were erected between 2500 BC and 2000 BC. The surrounding earth banks and ditches date back to 3100 BC.

The purposes of Stonehenge remain a mystery today.
